Heart Checkup

Janey had her yearly cardiologist appointment this week to check on her valve defect. The doctor wanted to get an echo cardiogram done since she had not had one since she was six months old. This test takes about 30-45 minutes, and requires you to sit very still to get all the necessary images. Jim and I did not think that she was going to be able to sit that still for that long, but she shocked us and was VERY still. The tech turned on a Dora movie on the ceiling, and I got up on the bed next to her. She would look over at the tech a few times and ask, "What you doin." The other tests (E.K.G) takes only a few minutes, and I could hold her in my lap for that one.

The cardiologist told us that her valve stenosis (narrowing) had improved over the last couple of years, and was very close to the normal range now. Also, he said looking at the echo. images that her bicuspid(2 flaps)valve was currently functioning as a normal tricuspid (3 flaps) valve!! He also said that almost all people with a valve stenosis have an aortic coarctation too (the more severe condition that doctors saw before birth). He said, "Call it what you want but that it looks like she dodged a bullet". This statement just confirms what we have known since a few days after she was born that our Janey is a testimony to God's healing powers! We will go back next year for a checkup, and then we might start going every two years after that!

Excited about putting on the fish gown before the echo
