Birthday Girl!

To our sweet Janey:
We thank God everyday for you! This day (March 31) last year was a very exciting, nervous, and scary day for all who love you. We were told by numerous doctors and witnessed for ourselves that you had a heart defect that was going to require immediate medical attention and surgery. Three days after you were born, the cardiologist in the NICU at UAB preformed an echocardiogram on your heart to see what was needed. When they did that test, they did not see the serious heart defect that had been seen so many times during Mommy's pregnancy. You see baby girl, you are a living testimony to God's wonderful healing power, and His graciousness to answer prayer! You have taught us how not to take anything for granted, how to trust in the Lord always, and to rejoice in the fact that the Lord has a plan for all of us. Your "million dollar" smile, the way you scrunch up your nose when you get excited, your many cowlicks and all the other little things about you warms our hearts and we are so honored that God chose us to be your parents! Happy Birthday baby girl! We love you, Daddy and Mama

Many Firsts

Janey has had many first things happening this week. I guess being it is about to be her birthday that it is only appropriate the next few post will be about our little Janey bug (as I have been calling her lately). The first of the first I guess would be that I turned her facing forward in her carseat. She finally broke the 20 lb mark about 2 weeks ago, and with the upcoming car trip to Mississippi, I think she and I were both ready! The next first Janey had this week was her first time to go to the "Baby Bookworms" program at the library. She has been many times to the preschool program tagging along with big sister, but this time it was for her age group. She really enjoyed herself as you can see in the video, and Mary Varner enjoyed "showing her little sister the ropes"!
Tonight some friends of ours that have a little girl that turns one the day before Janey, invited us to come over to cookout and have a little birthday for the girls. Janey had her first birthday cupcake ever!! She LOVED every bite of it and we enjoyed watching these two dig into their cupcakes. Mary Varner and our friend's oldest daughter that is MV's age kept laughing and laughing while the babies were eating their cupcakes.

Jell-O cont....

After about 10 minutes or so, MV came back in the kitchen and took a bite of her Jell-O that was still on the table.

Me:" I thought you did not like Jell-o because it was too wiggly"
MV:" It's behaving now, Mommy"

Jello Jiggler

For snack today, I gave MV some Jell-O which is usually a big treat. Today was a different story.

MV (after dropping a few bites): "Mommy, I do not want this Jell-O anymore"
Me: "Why, I thought you loved Jell-O?"
MV: "It's not listening very well and wiggling all over the place"
Me: "Well, that just what Jell-O does, it wiggles alot"
MV: "I am getting very frustrated, can I get down now"

I guess that is the end to eating Jell-O at our house!

Good Morning Oscar

Janey has a "love/hate" relationship with Oscar. She is fascinated with him through the window, and "talks" to him all the time at the kitchen window. When we try to take her out to go play or pet him she is scared to death. Here is a video of her this morning "talking" to him. You can tell that she is calling him "Ahh" the whole time because she is trying to say Oscar.

Bathroom Talk

During church on Sunday, Mary Varner told me that she had to go to the potty. This is not unusual especially right when the sermon starts...anyway, I took her to the restroom. After finishing her business (#2), she announced to me that she was going to go tell daddy that she went poo poo in the potty. I told her that she was not going to tell him in church, but that she could tell him when we got out of church. She agreed, and we proceeded back into church. Well, as soon as we got to our seat she looked at Jim and in this VERY loud whisper she said, "Daddy, I goed a poo poo!" We heard a few giggles from behind, and after church many of the people sitting around us came up and picked on us about it:)

The conversation at the dinner table tonight went like this:

Jim directed at me: "Oh, I am tired. Let's get to bed early tonight."
Before I could answer...
Mary Varner says: "Why are you tired, because mama is tooty tooting too much at night?"(Do not know where this came from)
Jim (trying not to laugh): "Mary Varner, that is bathroom talk, we do not talk like that at the table!"
Mary Varner (with a half smile): "I am sorry daddy, but it is funny!" and starts laughing!!!

I was biting my tongue so hard not to start dying out laughing, and even acted like I was throwing something away to hide so she could not see me laughing. I thought that this was only things that you had to deal with when you had little boys...I guess I was wrong!!

New Pics

I know that I have not posted anything in a couple of weeks, but the days are just getting busier and busier especially now that Janey is pulling up/cruising on everything and trying to climb up on anything she can reach. She is a big time climber already and our stone fireplace is her favorite...UGGGH!! March is also her birthday month, that's right she will be turning one on March 31st....I can not believe it. She does not have much interest in walking yet, I will hold her hands up and try to walk with her and she takes about two steps and then she folds her legs up to sit down. She is eating all regular food (she refuses baby food all together now), and she has already dropped her lunch bottle. As you can see she is getting so big, yet she is sooo much more petite than MV was at this age so I call her "little bit" or "small fry" all the time. Mary Varner has been busy with her preschool and church activities and is starting to get a busy little social schedule! I think her favorite things right now are dressing up, singing, and dancing usually all at the same time, and of course playing with her big buddy Oscar (our dog). These two LOVE each other so much, and she begs me to go outside and play with Oscar. On the other hand, Janey can not stand to even look at Oscar!!
