Manicure/Pedicure

B'B' was here this past weekend for Mary Varner's recital, and just to play for a few days. THe girls wanted to have their fingers and toes painted just like B'B' had hers...so that is exactly what happened. B'B' got her polish out, and setup a manicure and pedicure station. I got these pictures of Janey getting hers done. She was VERY still, and we had her sit and color afterwards to let her toes dry before she got on the carpet. We had lots of fun with B'B' here!!

Mary Varner's Dance Recital 2011

Here is the video of Mary Varner's dance from her recital. She is on the back row for the first part, and then she rotates to the front. She looked at the teacher most of the dance instead of out at the crowd so you do not see her face much. She did a great job, and the place was packed so I am sure she was nervous (I know I would have been)!!

Dance Recital

Mary Varner's long awaited dance recital was today!! She was SOOO excited about getting dressed up and especially getting to wear a little make-up! I will download the video of the dance later when I have more time, but here are some pictures from the big day. She had fun, and all of us really enjoyed watching all the dance groups perform. Janey did not attend the recital. Ms. Kat (church nursery keeper) came and stayed with her while she napped at home! Jim and I gave Mary Varner some flowers, and we all ate ice cream when we got home! It was a really great day!

Last Day of Preschool

Mary Varner's last day of preschool was yesterday! She had a wonderful year with Ms. Brenda and Ms. Erin. On the way home, I was asking her if she was excited that school was out, and she told me that she was a little sad because she LOVED it so much. I told her that we would see her friends at the park, and other places throughout the summer, and that we could invite her close friends over to play some. After I listed off many of the activities (VBS, swim lessons etc.) that we have planned for the summer she seemed to get excited!

Bikes

Mary Varner decided Saturday that she wanted to learn how to ride her bike without training wheels. We think this was brought on because we went over to some friends' house a few weeks ago to eat, and their little boy who is Mary Varner's age was riding his bike without training wheels. Well, Jim took the training wheels off, and we had some practice trying to balance on the bike without the training wheels. She did not have good balance at all, and we told her that we would continue to practice with her some until she got the hang of it. She was not dissappointed, and was relieved to put the training wheels back on her bike! Janey is starting to try to ride the tricycle some too. She is finally almost tall enough to push the pedals on her own. She tries REALLY hard to ride like her big sister!!

P.S. Starting next week, We have decided to make the blog private. I will be sending you an e-mail (if I do not have it then please let me know it) that will invite you to view the blog, and you will then need to create a username and password. Each time you go to the blog it will ask you for your username and password (very similar to what you do to see your e-mail). We feel that for the safety of our children we want to be able to control who views the blog!

We were invited to the park today by some special friends of ours from church, Mary and Jane(a.k.a Janey). Yes, they have the same first names as our girls, and this is a VERY cool thing especially to Mary and Mary Varner. It was told to almost every adult and child at the park today! I managed to get one picture of all 4 girls, but then Mary Varner was not cooperating today when it came to pictures. She was too busy playing with her friend, and did not want to be interrupted!! We had a great morning, and plan to have many more play dates with these precious girls.

Dunking Booth

It was water games night at church Wednesday! They had a dunking booth setup for the kids to take turns dunking some of the games leaders. Well, Jim was one of the three guys that had the honor of being dunked. It was a much cooler evening than normal for this time of year, and Jim was FREEZING the whole time!!

End of the Year Field Trip

Mary Varner's preschool year is coming to an end. She has LOVED everyday, and I know is going to miss seeing her friends over the summer. She will still be in 4 year old preschool next year(different class/teacher/1 extra day) because the cutoff for entering kindergarten is Sept.1st and her birthday is Sept. 4th. She missed it by just a few days, but to tell you the truth I am glad that I have her home for one more year, and there will be some benefits to being the oldest in her class! Anyway, we went to this small zoo in the area for her field trip, and had a picnic lunch. I was not expecting to see major zoo animals, but there was a lion, tiger, white tiger, bear, goats, monkeys, and many other "real" zoo animals. The girls really enjoyed it, and we may go back for another visit this summer.
