Having Fun

The girls had a long four day weekend because Friday was a teacher work day, and Monday was Martin Luther King holiday.   On Friday, we went to see the movie,  Paddington,  Saturday and Sunday were normal hang out around the house days (other than church), and Monday we met some friends for a picnic lunch at the park. I have not been taking many pictures, but here are a few I did get during the last couple of weeks.

Jim has been trying to get the girls to ask for a race car track for Christmas the last couple of years.  Well, since they never asked for one, the girls and I decided to give him one for Christmas.  New Year's Day was spent setting up , and racing cars on his new track!

This past Saturday morning, Janey (with help from MV) made Snow White and the seven dwarfs  out of toilet paper rolls.  She put on a puppet show from behind the couch with her creations!

Mary Varner got this dollhouse from Grandaddy and Nana for Christmas.  You can set up four "rooms" with whatever you want, and it folds up nicely when done and stores under the bed with ease!!  We set it up in the office(to keep it away from the dog) over the weekend, and the girls played dolls for many hours throughout the weekend.  

Pierced Ears

  On New Years Eve, I took Mary Varner to Claire's where she picked sapphire (her birthstone) stud earrings, and used her gift card to get her ears pierced.  I was very nervous because there was only one lady working that day(meaning they could not pierce both at the same time), so she had to pierce one ear at a time.  I secretly prayed that the first one would not be too painful, or cause a panic so she would actually get the second one done.  Well, she did not even flinch.  She said it hurt for just a second, and it was not a big deal at all!!   She has to wear the sapphire earrings for six weeks, and then she can take them out to wear other ones.

We got to meet one of our newest cousins on Christmas.  Madeline Rose (Maddie) was so sweet and let everyone take a turn holding her!!

Janey has been trying to learn how to tie shoes lately.  She practiced on Lizzy's shoes one morning until she finally got it tied!!  She still needs more practice, but is getting better each time.

Christmas night

We headed to Canton to have lunch with Mimi and B'B' and all the extended family.  After lunch and visiting, we made it to Grandaddy and Nana's house by late afternoon.  Grandaddy had major heart surgery just a couple of weeks before Christmas so we did not spend the night this year.  We did enjoy opening gifts, eating a delicious dinner, and singing Happy Birthday to Jesus with ice cream birthday cake.

Christmas morning

When we woke up on Christmas morning, Santa had brought the girls some gifts! 

MV with her ballet barre and purple ballet outfit from Santa for her Isabelle doll.

Janey was very excited about her doll that Santa brought her!  It was the one that looks like her with blonde hair and blue eyes.

MV has been asking for a ballgown for a long time.  Santa delivered this beautiful gown that fit her perfectly!

We opened our gifts to each other on Christmas morning too.  MV was shocked to find a pair of pierced silver cross earrings with a certificate to get her ears pierced.  She was shaking with excitement!!

We gave Jim a holster for his new gun.

Janey with her light up drawing board we gave her.  It is a cross between a Magna Doodle and a lite brite.  She really enjoys drawing on it. Jim and the girls got me a new wristlet purse that I wanted, but I do not have a picture of me opening it.

After playing with our gifts for most of the morning, Jim and the girls went for a ride on the wheeler!

Christmas Eve 2014

This Christmas we decided to stay at the hunting camp in Carthage.  We drove in on Dec. 23rd, and on Christmas Eve we joined my side of the family (minus Maw Maw because she was sick) to eat dinner and open gifts at Brad's house.  We really enjoyed having everyone together at the same time this year.  

Mimi gives everyone no matter what your age ten dollars for your birthday and Christmas.  Here are the girls showing off their ten dollars!

                      When we finished at Brad's with the family, we drove back to the camp.  The girls put out the reindeer food (oats with glitter) that they made at school for Santa's reindeer, and milk and cookies for Santa.  We read our last Advent story, and went straight to bed so Santa could come quickly!
