Spend the Night friend

 

Last Sunday, our friend Tara came home with us from church, and spent  the night.  The girls were out of school on Monday for a teacher work day.   Tara's parents asked if she could stay with us while they went overnight to Destin, and we gladly said yes.  I love seeing our girls and their sweet friends from church forming friendships!!

Monday morning we went to the park on the bay to play.  It was very overcast, and started to rain on us on the way home.  Janey always tries to do these balance step things when we go to this park, and has not been able to get it.  Well, she finally figured it out this time!!

Pretty Dresses

Thank you Aunt Vivian and Nana for making these beautiful dresses!! The girls were very proud to tell everyone at church that their dresses were handmade with lots of love!

Fun Week

Jim was off work on Monday for Columbus Day. The girls still had school so Jim and I went to the beach just the two of us that morning before heading back to pick Janey up from preschool. 



B'B' came in on Monday evening to stay for a few days.  The girls enjoyed making brownies one afternoon with B'B'. They had lots of fun licking the bowl too.

Wednesday night was "bad hair night" at Awana.  The girls wore brightly colored headbands that had crazy hair pieces attached, and I wore MV's Rapunzel wig that she had from Halloween last year.  The girls did not keep their wild hair on long enough to get a picture.

Janey talked all week about going to the beach on Friday with B'B'.  Although it was very cloudy and sprinkled a little, we had fun playing in the sand, and on the beach playground at the Crab Trap.

B'B' has started a tradition of taking the girls to get their nails painted when she comes to town or even when we are in Mississippi.  This time they picked out bright orange and green with black polka dots for Halloween.

Lunch date

I  had lunch with Mary Varner this week at school.  I try to take her lunch every couple of weeks, and I really enjoy getting to spend this time with her.  She looks forward to me coming, and especially likes that I bring her either Subway or Chick-fil-A. 

 

 

Field Trip

Janey's preschool class took a field trip to the pumpkin patch. She enjoyed planting pumpkin seeds, picking out a baby pumpkin to bring home, and listening to harvest stories.  She has such a sweet class, and  is having a wonderful time in VPK!

She kept saying that the pumpkin seeds were to slimy to pick up.  She finally got her three seeds planted!!

Turkey Creek

Last Saturday, before the storms rolled in, we decided to go to Turkey Creek.  This is a park that has a mile and a half bridge that you walk on through the woods alongside a creek. The creek is stream fed so its water is always very cold.  We walked to the end of the bridge were there was a big landing and jumped in! It was absolutely freezing, my legs actually felt numb.  Jim and the girls claimed that they got used to it after a while but would frequently get out to warm up in the sun.  It was so cold that Jim would have trouble talking when he first got into the water.

Mary Varner wanted to go all the way across but it was deep in the middle and there was a strong current.  Jim ended up carrying her across to the other side.

Janey did get in a little bit at first but did not like the cold water as much as her big sister.

Heart Check-up

Janey had her annual heart check-up yesterday.  She was such a big girl, and had her E.K.G. and echo cardiogram done without me needing to hold her or lay next to her on the bed.  She is very comfortable with the routine, and everyone gave her praise for her cooperation.  All test show that her heart defect is still functioning normal.  We thank God for His continued protection on Janey!!

Two weeks

It has been over two weeks since I posted anything on our blog.  I think that is the longest I have ever gone without a post.  We did have a trip to Mississippi for a long weekend within that time so that is part of the reason. Anyway, this is some of what the girls have been up to in the past two weeks. 

Having fun wearing the mustaches Mary Varner got at school for selling her coupon books. They kept going around talking like they were men.  It was hilarious!!

While we were in Mississippi, we got to meet our new cousin George Bushmiaer.  Mary Varner and Janey really loved holding and kissing him.



We met up with Papa Doc at the Hibachi steakhouse for lunch. This was Janey's first time at a Hibachi. She loved the cook, and all the excitement.

Hanging  out with MawMaw.  Mary Varner thinks it is so cool that Maw Maw is 90.  She kept asking her if she knew anyone else that was 90, and what was it like to be that old.  MawMaw just laughed, and told her that age was just a number! Janey wanted to do a silly face photo.
