Easter 2011

Family Picture

We enjoyed a wonderful Easter Sunday with our church family this year! We went to church for Easter service, and then went over to a friend's house for Easter lunch. I was asked by the husband to PLEASE bring real southern sweet potato casserole. I hit Nana up for her recipe because we all LOVE her sweet potato casserole. Well, it was a HUGE hit, and there was not one drop left in the pan. After lunch, we came home for short naps, and then it was off to the annual Easter Egg hunt/cookout at our Assistant Pastor's house. The girls had a blast hunting eggs, and Janey caught on real fast!! I think she ended up with more eggs in her basket than Mary Varner. She also figured out how to open them to get to the candy. She ate more candy yesterday than she has in her whole life! We had a great time eating and hanging out with our friends. Once we made it home, we gave the girls their baskets from us. Mary Varner got the movie "Tangled", some church activity books, bath fizzing eggs, and a lamb pez. Janey got the "Elmo goes Potty" movie, some fruit snacks, bath fizzing eggs, and a bunny pez. The entire day was very fun, but the best part was when Mary Varner during her prayer last night said , "Thank you Jesus for dying on the cross next to the thieves, and then rising from out of the tomb to save us." I couldn't have said it any better!!

Easter goodies from Daddy and Mama

Disney on Ice

Papa Doc and K'K' gave the girls tickets to go see Disney on Ice for their Easter gifts. Today was the big day, and we all (me included) were VERY excited!! All I can say is that it was an AWESOME show, and I even got a little teared up seeing my girl's faces as they enjoyed every minute of it!! I am still amazed at how wonderful it was, and it just gives me the Disney "bug" even more! Mary Varner sat so still the whole show, and every now and then her eyes would get so big and her mouth would drop in amazement and she would say "WOW"! Janey sat intrigued for most of it, and thankfully we were sitting on an aisle seat so when she needed to stand up she just stood in the aisle! She danced and clapped most of the time, and interacted with the characters when it was an audience interacting type part. I KNOW they are going to LOVE it even more when we go to Disney in the fall!!

Ice Cream Date

After lunch on Saturday, Jim took Mary Varner to get some ice cream! The date was really exciting since they went in the corvette with the top down! She had a smile on her face all day, and told everyone at church all about it the next day.

Family Beach Saturdays

Last weekend we had what we call a "Family Beach Saturday." This was our first time this season as a family to go to the beach. I took a couple of pics with my phone of Jim and the girls playing. Even with the foggy day, we had a fun morning at the beach!!

YEAH!! I figured out how to get these videos on the blog!! SOrry that I kept turning the first one, and a woman(who needs more coverage!!) gets in the way for a minute! THe first one is the dance routine that they are working on for their recital in May (just started a few weeks ago), and the second one is their warm-up song every class (they know it very well). Anyway, hope you enjoy!!

Little Ballerina 2

2 year stats

Janey went for her 2 year well baby checkup on Monday! She weighed 24 pds and was 32 inches tall. That puts her in the 50% for height and the 20% for weight! The dr. said that she is "tall and thin". The tall part surprised me to hear because I tend to think of her as short because I am so used to Mary Varner who is over 100% in height for her age. I did get teared up when she stood on the "big kid" scale to get weighed and measured. She did great, and I am having to face the fact that my baby is not a baby anymore....she is a toddler now!!

Kid's Fest 2011

Mary Varner's ballet class performed at the yearly Kid's Fest in Destin. We have never been to Kid's Fest because it is from Noon-4 (naptime)! Well, we went this year since MV was dancing, and I did put Janey down early for nap to get at least an hour and half nap before we left (we did not have to be there until 2:00). I have a feeling that this is something we are going to do again next year because it was so much fun!! There were lots of dance groups performing, face painting, jump houses, pictures with Hello Kitty, animal balloon making, fish rubbings, manicure stations, and many many other booths with local businesses offering all sorts of fun things for kids of all ages! Everything was free except for the "tip please" jars at each booth. The girls enjoyed getting their faces painted and MV got a manicure! We looked and looked for Hello Kitty to get a picture, but after we waited in the line for the face painting (30 min) we could not find her and the girls were getting tired! It was a very fun afternoon!!

Jim and I gave Janey a cozy coupe car for her birthday! I waited too late to order it, so it did not get here before her birthday. Anyway, we finally got to give it to her yesterday! She LOVES it!! I am not exagerating when I tell you that if she is awake she is in that car. I was not planning on keeping it in the house, but I guess I am going to for a few more days because she wants to be in it all the time!!

Janey's Birthday Celebrations cont...

We celebrated Janey's birthday with cupcakes and presents after dinner last night. She was VERY excited about all her presents from her grandparents and sister. Jim and I are giving her our gift this weekend because it just came in, and we have to put it together tonight!! She was so over the top excited about her gifts last night, that I don't think she even realized that we had not given her our gift. The past two years have gone by so fast, and they have been very entertaining!! We are looking forward to this next year with our 2 year old, and feel so blessed to be her parents!! P.S. For some reason I did not get a picture of her with her "My first Baby Alive" that B'B' gave her, but the cute 2 shirt she is wearing is from B'B'!!
