Reading and Writing

I met with Janey's teacher last week for a regular assessment type conference.  Ms. Rhonda told me that Janey was ready to start blending her sounds to form words, and work on starting the first step of learning to read.  At first, I was a little taken back because Janey does not show much interest at home with letter sounds or trying to read so to speak.  Well, her teacher says that she is all over it at school, and is more than ready.  I agreed for them to start her in a pre-reading group with a few other children in her class.  I started talking to Janey about the reading group idea, and then she proceeds to show me some of the words that she already knows by writing them on her magna-doodle.  She was so proud of herself, and we gave her lots of praise too!!
