Graduation

Mary Varner had her VPK (Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten) graduation last Wednesday. There were three VPK classes at her school, and they each took turns one at a time coming into the sanctuary. Well, her class was the first one, and Mary Varner was the first child in line. As soon as the graduation music started, and I saw her coming down that aisle (standing so proud), huge tears started swelling up in my eyes. I did get ahold of myself, and recorded her class singing a couple of songs, and her receiving her graduation medal. Once all three classes had sung their songs and handed out medals, they started a slide show. I do not think that one mama in that sanctuary had a dry eye including myself. The slide show was a collection of pictures from all the classes throughout the year. After the ceremony, the school hosted a reception for the graduates. There were times when I questioned whether or not we should have sent her to Pre-K (mainly because I missed having her with me), but after reflecting on the past year and seeing how much Mary Varner matured and flourished, I am so thankful that we did!!
