Two Thursdays ago, I got an early morning phone call from my brother telling me that Mimi and Mama's house had caught fire in the middle of the night. Everyone got out safely, but most of the house burned up or had extensive smoke and water damage. The insurance has examined the damage, and said that even the bedrooms that were not completely burned up had so much smoke damage that nothing was salvageable. We are very thankful that a close family friend and neighbor has an apartment built out from their garage that Mimi and mama have moved into for the immediate future. There is a plan to rebuild, but it is going to be a long process.
