2 year stats

Janey went for her 2 year well baby checkup on Monday! She weighed 24 pds and was 32 inches tall. That puts her in the 50% for height and the 20% for weight! The dr. said that she is "tall and thin". The tall part surprised me to hear because I tend to think of her as short because I am so used to Mary Varner who is over 100% in height for her age. I did get teared up when she stood on the "big kid" scale to get weighed and measured. She did great, and I am having to face the fact that my baby is not a baby anymore....she is a toddler now!!

Kid's Fest 2011

Mary Varner's ballet class performed at the yearly Kid's Fest in Destin. We have never been to Kid's Fest because it is from Noon-4 (naptime)! Well, we went this year since MV was dancing, and I did put Janey down early for nap to get at least an hour and half nap before we left (we did not have to be there until 2:00). I have a feeling that this is something we are going to do again next year because it was so much fun!! There were lots of dance groups performing, face painting, jump houses, pictures with Hello Kitty, animal balloon making, fish rubbings, manicure stations, and many many other booths with local businesses offering all sorts of fun things for kids of all ages! Everything was free except for the "tip please" jars at each booth. The girls enjoyed getting their faces painted and MV got a manicure! We looked and looked for Hello Kitty to get a picture, but after we waited in the line for the face painting (30 min) we could not find her and the girls were getting tired! It was a very fun afternoon!!

Jim and I gave Janey a cozy coupe car for her birthday! I waited too late to order it, so it did not get here before her birthday. Anyway, we finally got to give it to her yesterday! She LOVES it!! I am not exagerating when I tell you that if she is awake she is in that car. I was not planning on keeping it in the house, but I guess I am going to for a few more days because she wants to be in it all the time!!

Janey's Birthday Celebrations cont...

We celebrated Janey's birthday with cupcakes and presents after dinner last night. She was VERY excited about all her presents from her grandparents and sister. Jim and I are giving her our gift this weekend because it just came in, and we have to put it together tonight!! She was so over the top excited about her gifts last night, that I don't think she even realized that we had not given her our gift. The past two years have gone by so fast, and they have been very entertaining!! We are looking forward to this next year with our 2 year old, and feel so blessed to be her parents!! P.S. For some reason I did not get a picture of her with her "My first Baby Alive" that B'B' gave her, but the cute 2 shirt she is wearing is from B'B'!!

Spring Break 2011

This week has been our Spring Break! We have not had preschool, ballet, or Wednesday night church activities this week! So what do you do on Spring Break when you live at the beach...you go to the beach with all your friends! We have gone twice so far this week, and the girls have really had a GREAT time!!











On a different note: I took Mary Varner to the dentist this morning (before we headed to the beach) for her cleaning. The dentist told us that her bottom two front teeth are wiggling, and that she was going to lose them within the next 6 months!! I was in shock. I feel like she just got all of her teeth!! The dentist said that some children start loosing teeth at 5 and others don't start until around 7 (or course we have to be early)! I am not ready to see my barely 5 year old with missing teeth...just feels like she is growing up too fast!!

Janey's Birthday Party

We had Janey's birthday party today. Her birthday is not until March 31st, but she and two of her friends at church all turn two in March. We (the three moms) started talking one day about what we were thinking about doing for their birthday parties. Well, we all decided to celebrate together and to pick a day in the middle of the month so that it would not be too late or too early for any of the girls!





























We have been practicing with her on saying that she is two when someone ask her how old she is. I am hoping on her actual birthday I can get a video of her saying it! We are planning on making cupcakes and letting her open her gifts from her family on her birthday! So stay tuned for more of Janey's birthday memories to come!!

"This is big kid stuff, mama"!!

This week Mary Varner decided to try to go 5 nights without wetting her pull-up. This was totally her idea, because the last time I tried to get her not wear a pull-up at night, she told me that she would do that when she turned 5. Well, Tuesday morning she woke up and was VERY surprised that she was dry. As I was getting her dressed, she told me that if she went 5 nights being dry, then she did not have to wear a pull-up anymore. I agreed with her plan, and prayed every night that she would do it because she was so excited about it!! Every morning all week she woke up dry, and finally on Saturday morning she woke up and was so excited that she had accomplished her goal! She told me, "This is big kid stuff, mama, like a 7 or 8 year old thing"! I laughed a little and told her how proud we were of her. I let her pick out a "treat" when we went to Target that morning. SHe picked out some cotton candy, and enjoyed eating it as her snack yesterday. Last night was her first night in "real" underware , and she did great! On our way to church, she told us that she was going to tell all her friends at church that she wears big girl panties at night now!!

BB's Birthday

We went to Mississippi a couple of weeks ago for my cousin's engagement party, and BB's (my mom) birthday!! After spending 7 1/2 hours in the car getting to Mississippi (we had to stop 4 times), we all decided that ordering pizza and having birthday cake at the house was a much better option than going to a restaurant! We had a great time hanging out and celebrating with B'B' on her birthday!!
