St. Augustine

I can not believe that I am so late posting pictures from our anniversary trip to St. Augustine.  Jim and I took a long weekend trip to the oldest city in the U.S. for our 10 year anniversary.  We had a great time relaxing at the resort pool, checking out all the historical sites, and eating out at nice restaurants just the two of us!These are some of the pictures that I took, and I will add the pictures from Jim's phone later!
The pool at our resort

Trying to get a picture with both of us in it because we did not want to ask someone to take one

Jim went for a swim in the Atlantic....It started to thunder and rain soon after we got to the beach.

Our resort was a PGA Golf resort and this was the PGA Golf Hall of Fame building.  No, we did not go in because neither one of us are big golf fans.

The Castillo de San Marcos was the first stop on our list of places to go.  It is one of the oldest standing structures in North America.  The fort is over 335 years old, but has had some renovations over the years to keep it safe for people to tour!

Walking up to the fort from the street

The large drawbridge at the entrance is the only way in or out of the fort

One of the many cannons around the perimeter of the fort

There are volunteers that put on a demonstration, and firing of the cannon a couple times a day.  We were pleasantly surprised to see one of our college students from church as one of the volunteers that day.  She attends Flagler in St. Augustine, and volunteers at the fort on the weekends.

The next stop on our tour was the Lighthouse.  It is the oldest working lighthouse in the United States.  We climbed fourteen flights of stairs to get to the top.  Jim and I both are a little uneasy about heights, but once we got to the top we adjusted and enjoyed the view.
