Mary Varner and I ran in our very first race on Saturday morning! I have been running/training for my first 5k for the last couple of months, and a few of my friends joined in the race with me. The race proceeds went to our area Pregnancy Crisis Center in Crestview. Overall I guess I exceeded my goal of finishing the race without passing out because I ran 3 miles, walked for a couple of minutes to catch my breath, then ran the last leg into the finish line. I finished the 3.15 mile race in about 36 minutes. Mary Varner and Jim ran the kid 1 mile fun run together finishing in about 14 minutes. After the race, the children enjoyed climbing up in the helicopter and fire trucks that were there for people to look in. We had a great day, and will probably sign up for another race in the future!
