May Events

The month of May is always very busy.  Janey had her last softball game the first week of May.  She really enjoyed playing, and is already talking about next year.

Field day was at the beginning of May this year because last year it was extremely hot by the end of May.  This was the first field day for both girls.  Mary Varner was out of town her Kindergarten year, and last year she chose to go to Janey's VPK graduation instead of field day.  I enjoyed going to watch both girls participate in all the different games.

The Kindergarten went on a field trip to the strawberry patch.  We had a great time picking strawberries, eating homemade strawberry frozen yogart, and having a picnic lunch.

Jim took the Friday before Memorial Day off, and we went on a date day to the beach.  It was an absolutely gorgeous day, and the Memorial day crowds had not descended onto the beach yet so we did not have to deal with bad crowded beaches!!

BB drove down on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend to visit for a few days.  She always promises the girls a trip to Ihop for smiley face pancakes, and then  to the nail place to get their nails painted which happens to be next door to the Ihop!  We had a great visit, and fun time with BB!! 

Charlie turned one on May 25 th.  We gave him a new monkey toy that the girls picked out, and a chew bone.

Day Four- Animal Kingdom

  We started our Animal Kingdom day with a safari character breakfast.  After breakfast, we went on the  Kilimanjaro Safari ride.  We saw many neat animals very close since it was feeding time. The rest of the day included Jim and Mary Varner riding Expedition Everest, while Janey and I went to "Its tough to be a bug" show, riding Primeval whirl, playing in the Boneyard playground, and riding the Dinosaur ride (Janey got scared and cried).  We left to head back to our already packed up car at the hotel around 2:00.   Mary Varner cried so hard when we were pulling out of the parking lot headed home.  She said she wished she could live at Disney World.  

Day Three- Second Round at Magic Kingdom

Our Third full day was spent at Magic Kingdom again.  The morning was full of many rides that were on our "we want to ride that one again" list, and of course we included Enchanted Tales with Belle were both girls participated in helping Belle tell the story of Beauty and the Beast.  We completed the morning with lunch inside Belle's castle at the Be Our Guest restaurant.  

After riding Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain in Frontierland we enjoyed watching one of the afternoon parades.

When we got back to our room every evening, the maid would have the girls lovies setup in some special kind of way.  This night they were in a pillow tipee.
