Valentine's Weekend

We had a great Valentine's weekend this past weekend. My mom came to visit which is always fun, and Jim had date nights with Mary Varner and me!! He was a very busy man!! Saturday night, Jim took MV out to her favorite restaurant for of course what else except chicken tenders, french fries, and a HUGE milkshake. Jim said that the milkshake was about as big as her head and that they mixed up two types of syrup to make a rainbow type look which was a huge hit with MV. She had to wear her "I love Daddy" shirt and Jim put her carseat in the corvette!! This was her very first time to ever ride in the corvette and she was SOOOO excited. Jim said on there way to the restaurant he looked over at her and she had a big smile on her face, and he asked her "Do you like riding in Daddy's red car", and MV looked at him and said, "Daddy, I am so happy!" On Sunday night, Jim and I had a date night at our favorite restaurant! All in all it was a wonderful Valentine's weekend for all the Elder girls. P.S. Don't worry Janey is in line for next year:)

Daddy's Girls

Mary Varner and Janey are BIG time Daddy's girls. Jim gets attacked by both of them as soon as he steps foot in the house after work! I am trying to get it on video because Mary Varner runs and practically knocks him down by grabbing his legs in a bear hug, and Janey speed crawls over to him chanting "Da-Da, Da-Da" the whole time (it is very sweet)! I am so thankful that Jim is such a wonderful daddy, and I look forward to seeing these daddy/daughter bonds grow and develop even more in the future.

P.S. I asked MV the other day who her Valentine was thinking she was going to say her "boyfriend", Josh, but she looked at me and pointed to Jim and said, "Daddy"! Jim is talking about taking her on a Daddy-Daughter date this weekend for Valentine's Day....I will post about that next week.

new trick

Just a few days shy of being 10 months old and this is what I found when I went in to get her up from nap!! When she woke up, I heard her in her room squealing with excitement, so I grabbed the camera just in case. I have been trying to get her to stand up since then but she will not have anything to do with it. She is regular crawling all over the place now, loves to get into the cabinets, and at her nine month checkup a couple of weeks ago she weighed 19 lbs and 9 ounces (50%) and her height was 27 1/2 inches (75%) which is very close to what MV weighed at 6 months!! I know that everyone says it but it is so true that time goes by too fast and especially with the second one.

Notice the double cowlick!! Should be interesting as her hair grows out!!!

This post is about Janey. I realized that I have not done an entry on just her in a long time. I guess I was too busy posting about Christmas. Anyway, here is a little bit of what this little, energetic girl has been up to!!
----She is crawling all over the place (1/2 regular crawl,1/2 army crawl)and is very fast!!
----She is waving hey and bye, bye
----She has this squeal/scream that she does all the time, when she is happy, mad, or just wants to get your attention.
----She puts EVERYTHING in her mouth
----She takes off her shoes and socks all day long
----She says Dada all the time and rarely says Mama anymore
----She is pulling up to her knees in her crib, and at the coffee table
----She starts bouncing and rocking anytime she hears any kind of music----I think we may have a dancer:)

Mary Varner's BEST friend is moving:( I have tried to prepare her for this but I do not think that she truly understands that she will not see her at school, the park, or library anymore. Madison's extended (grandmother etc.) do live here so we will still see her when she comes to visit. Anyway, as a "going away" party/activity we decided it would be fun to take the girls to the movies to see Alvin and the Chipmunks 2. The movie was very cute and I would recommend it! It does have some slapstick type humor in it that was over MV's head but other than that it was a silly kids movie! After the movie, we went to a brick oven pizza place to eat and hang out. We had a great girls night out and we are going to miss our friends soooo much.

Christmas celebrations cont...

The day after Christmas was full of more family fun and yes more presents!! We met up with Brad and his crew, Dad, and Kay at Maw Maw's for lunch and opening gifts. We ate pizza and hung out watching the kids play! After MawMaw's, we headed to BB's to take naps and eat her good chilli and open gifts from her! The day after Christmas turned out to be just as much fun as Christmas day!! All in all we had a wonderful time and made many memories that we will be cherished for the years to come. Christmas Day

Happy New Year everyone! I am trying to play catch up on the blog because once we got back into town last week, Janey has been sick with pneumonia and RSV! She is getting better now, so I have more time to update the blog.

We had a wonderful Christmas in Mississippi with all of our families! Christmas morning we woke up to see that Santa had brought Mary Varner the RED trampoline that she had wanted and many other surprises like a princess umbrella, a Dora nightgown, and a chutes and ladders game! Janey enjoyed playing with her toys also, and especially loved her yellow teething ball. After enjoying watching the children play with their Santa gifts, we went to Canton to eat lunch with B'B' and Mimi and all of our many aunts, uncles, and cousins. We returned to the Elder's late afternoon to have our Christmas with John, Rena, Ben, Grandaddy, and Nana! Nana made a birthday cake for Jesus and Mary Varner and Ben helped put the candles in and we all sang Happy Birthday to Jesus. While we were singing Mary Varner would point up like she was pointing to Jesus...it was so sweet! We ate Christmas dinner and opened gifts and enjoyed the rest of the evening hanging out and watching the kids play.
