Jim's Birthday

Jim's birthday was last Tuesday, August 28th. We celebrated with a blue cake, balloons, and party hats. Mary Varner was out of school that day for bad weather due to Hurricane Isaac. The girls made birthday cards, and banners for when Jim got home from work. When he got home, we all attacked him at the door with birthday hugs and kisses.

Meet the teacher

Mary Varner had her kindergarten orientation/meet the teacher on Thursday.  Her teacher this year is Mrs. Runyon.  She was so excited to see two boys in her class she knew from pre-school, and also a girl that is in ballet with her in her class!!  She has been placed in a program called "Project Child".  This program is a kindergarten-1st grade program where two teachers(Mrs. Gaul is the other teacher) switch up teaching their specialty subject areas. The students switch classrooms between these two teachers for different subjects(half of the day with each teacher), and can be taught either the kindergarten or 1st grade curriculum depending on the student's individual learning level.   She is beyond excited about starting kindergarten on Monday, and I have a good feeling this is going to be a great year for her!!

Sleepover with Ben and Mollie

On our way back home from visiting family in Mississippi, we stopped in at John and Rena's to have a sleepover at Ben and Mollie's house!  The kids had a great time playing together, and we even took them to have a donut picnic at the park the next morning.  I am so glad that Ben invited us for a sleepover, and I know that we all had lots of fun! 

Water Fun this summer

We have had many days of playing in the water outside this summer.  Here are some pictures from different days trying to keep cool on these HOT summer days!



Janey and her special friends

Janey has been enjoying being with her sweet friends lately too.  We joined the neighborhood pool for the month, and have really enjoyed going to the pool with some of our friends.

These three have been call the"Three Muskateers" for over 2 years at church.  Janey, Cora, and Corianne are all just a few days apart in age.  They really love being together, and I know that Janey is going to miss Corianne(the one she is hugging in this picture) so much when she moves to Seattle next week.

Christmas Baby is getting a morning stroll.  This baby is  special to Janey, and she takes being her mommy VERY serious!

Janey is really loving Oscar lately!  She told us the other day that, "It is weally dood for people to have dogs"

First Friend Sleepover

One of Mary Varner's best friends(Jaidyn) from pre-school moved in next door back in February.  They had no idea that we lived next door, and we did not know anything about our new neighbors except that they had two little girls ages 5 and 7.  Well, Mary Varner figured out one day by hearing Jaidyn in the backyard that one of her best buddies had moved into the house next door.  All the girls (including Janey) enjoy playing together at least a few days a week.  A sleepover/spend the night party has been in the plans all summer, but with Mary Varner's soccer games being early Saturday mornings we had to wait until soccer was over.  Well, this past Friday was the long awaited day!!  They all had so much fun, playing babies/American girl doll, playing/performing gymnastics for Jim and I, coloring, painting,  and cooking cookies.  Jim and I were very surprised when everyone was sacked out by 9:00, and somewhat surprised when everyone was up and ready to party by 5:45 the next morning!  Overall it was a great time, and we will plan lots more sleepovers in the future!
