Janey started pee wee softball practice last week. She is loving it, and is a good little ball player! She will have her first game next Saturday on Opening Day (March 7).

I went along with the second grade Team Quest classes on their walking field trip last week to the bank(learned all about the banking process, and turned in their rolled coins/dollars to get a bank check), and then to lunch and giving of their donation check at McDonald's.  The classes have been learning all about finance the last couple of weeks.  They had a trade fair with products that they made (MV made bookmarks), and included a business plan, advertisement, and budget for their products.  The students took their five products and set up a trade fair in class where they traded products with each other.  Also, the classes have been learning about earning, saving, spending, and donating money.  They were asked to earn money by doing chores around the house for the last few weeks.  They then created a chart with how much they plan to spend, save, and donate.  They took the donated percent to school to put together a donation to the Ronald McDonald House.  All together the two classes collected $366!!  One boy in MV's class, asked for donations in lieu of gifts on his birthday and brought in about $170!!  When we got to McDonald's for lunch, Ronald himself was there to greet the kids and accept their check to the Ronald McDonald House.
