Ready or Not.....

Here comes potty training!!! I purchased a little potty months ago when MV started talking about it, but she has not been that interested in it aside from the initial excitement when we first bought it(much like she does with all new toys). Well, I have not really pushed it because of my own selfish reasons, 1)too much work 2)do not want her to be this big yet 3) do not have to stop for numerous bathroom stops when going somewhere (especially Miss.) etc.... Well, MV decided this week that she was going to start this potty thing. Tuesday, after lunch, she started saying "potty, potty", so I took her and she went. I was clapping and dancing like an idiot to make it a "good" thing and she got a sticker that she proudly put on the potty itself. So, yesterday we sat many times with no success, but today she has already sat on it twice and had one success! Anyway, I do not know what I am doing with this potty stuff, much like anything else in parenting, I'm just going with it, but I do not want to miss this window of opportunity while she has this new found interest! Do some of you that have gone through this already have some suggestions?!?!

Fran,
Hey. I am cracking up that you and I have some of the same links on our blogs. I am friends with Elizabeth Ellis & my husband is Elisabeth Barnes Steele's first cousin. Anyway, just wanted to say hey and I'll let you know/email you pics of what we have in MV's sizes and in two piece sets.
She is too cute...and I think I have met you with Elizabeth---Flowood Library, maybe?
Anyway, pics are super cute.

Be prepared in advance for many frustrations. But while things are going well, continue to give high praise and never reprimand for mistakes. I also suggest really paying attention to her normal potty times in the diaper so you can put her on the potty before those times and let nature do its job. Giver her special books to look at only when she's on the potty and some privacy if you're hoping for a #2. Good luck!
